West African Loss Control

Petrus was established in Lagos, Nigeria in 1996 and has a vast amount of experience in West African Loss Control. We are familiar with all the terminals and offshore facilities in WAF and beyond. We are in contact on a daily basis with government officials and understand fully how to work with them and local cargo inspectors in order to get the best result possible for all parties. Our loss control performance is second to none in this region.

What makes us different in WAF?

We have been working in Africa with a permanent presence for over two decades and as a result we have built up the most experienced cargo assurance team available. All our Superintendents are highly experienced African nationals. We do not utilise ex patriot staff, instead we have trained local staff who have a breadth of knowledge within the terminals that no other company can beat.

Our team

All our Superintendents are either ex Senior Cargo Inspection personnel, Chemists or Mariners, all with West and East African experience.
They understand local conditions and can easily relate to the limitations of cargo inspection companies. The above team ensure Petrus reduces our clients losses and exposure significantly. This is a very difficult proposition, one that demands all our experience and expertise to undertake successfully.

Our Local Knowledge

We utilise a dedicated regional team in order to develop key contacts and build up sustainable working relationships. We believe that maintaining these relationships is a vital part of the service we provide in Africa.

This above is reflected in the results we consistently achieve through the cooperation of local staff with whom we have developed key working relationships. As an example without local cooperation we would not have identified the leak pictured here which enabled our client to recover approximately 100 m3 of Gasoil.
